Manuka: Oil of Uplift

Another new oil we are excited to explore this month is Manuka!

manuka

New and experienced oil users can be on the same journey as we explore the wonderful properties of two oils doTERRA has rolled out for only this month in the US – Litsea and Manuka. This is a special that will only be available through August so we much explore and capture the opportunity to have these oils in our homes quickly!

I personally love this  experience because it increases my knowledge about oils and helps me find ways to introduce oils to other areas of my life. The exercise of looking at new oils also encourages me and reminds me of what it was like when I didn’t use oils at all so that I may help others who are at that curious point themselves.

The Oil of Being Uplifted

This is the nickname for the oil Manuka.  This oil  has a spiritual meaning of being a gift of the earth to heal and bless humanity.

What that says to me – This is a powerful oil we all deserve to receive!

This oil is known for its emotional healing properties that target directly to our souls and the scars we carry there from past hurts.

Manuka The Plant

While Manuka is believed to have originated in Australia and still grows predominately in places like Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales it was transferred by the Polynesian people into New Zealand where it has been to grow ideally.

The plant is a flowery bush that thrives in drier, arid conditions of North and South Zealand.

The flowers are small white orchid like blooms that are very fragrant and exotic in aroma.

doTERRA sources Manuka from New Zealand.

When the Bible speaks of the promised land full of milk and honey, we believe it is referring to the Manuka plant’s “honey” that is dervied from the flowers of the Manuka bush.

Medicinal Uses

Manuka is often used medicinally as a honey. The flowers are harvested and pressed to create Manuka Honey that is prized for its healing medicinal properties including:

  1. Sexual libido

  2. Stomach Acid and Reflux

  3. Irritable Bowel Symptom

  4. Burns and Blisters

  5. Acne

  6. Tooth Decay

  7. Sore Throats

  8. Immunity Strength

  9. Allergies

  10. Sleep support

The oil can be used topically, internally and aromatically.

Behavioral Health and Emotional Uses

This oil is also used in treating behavioral and emotional needs associated with feeling unloved, soulful level scars and hurts, heavy burdens, guilt, and abandonment.

Many of us experience times when we feel no one cares about us or that we have been abandoned, left alone or are grieving with a loss.

Manuka’s spiritual properties help support us in these times with comfort, feelings of peace and connection to our higher power.

Manuka helps with these negative emotions:

  1. Soulful wounds

  2. Grief

  3. Loss

  4. Abandonment

  5. Disconnection

  6. Unsafe

  7. Powerless

  8. Burdenened

  9. Overwhelmed

Instead, of these feelings that make us feel powerless, Manuka helps us encourage the feelings of:

  1. Soothing

  2. Comforted

  3. Healing

  4. Loved

  5. Connected

  6. Safe

  7. Part of a bigger plan or purpose

Application

While Manuka is a gentle oil because the honey properties of it make it thicker,  it is recommended that it be diluted with a lotion or fractionated coconut oil prior to skin application.  This goes for both physical or behavioral health needs.

NOTE: The Manuka oil offered this month is Manuka Touch, which means it is pre-diluted with fractionated coconut oil in a roller ball bottle for ease of use and direct skin application.

When using this oil for behavioral or emotional needs through topical application, it is best placed on the bottom of the feet, on the forehead, temples, behind the ears and on the base of the neck.

Blending and Diffusing

When using this oil in a diffuser to help with behavioral health needs it works very well with these oils:

  1. Rose

  2. Melissa

  3. Frankincense

  4. Spikenard

  5. ARborviate

  6. Myrrh

  7. Copaiba

  8. Breathe

As you can see from this list of oils, Manuka is a very spiritual based oil.  It’s references in the Bible, put it up there with Frankincense and Myrrh as blessings from above and valuable gifts worthy of a King. It is only logical then to believe this oil can also help us connect to our higher power and work through our feelings of being left, ousted and alone.
