Seasoning Salts

Salt is a great flavor intensifier for dishes. It is a stable ingredient added to almost all dishes.

This natural element can be further enhanced by adding essential oils. When this is done, the salt flavor is changed to bring out tastes in your dishes and can remove that “salty” taste that builds on the natural flavors of your dish.

When making these salts, use a high quality sea salt or kosher salt for best results. You can also play with coloring the salts using all natural edible color options or opt for the natural colored salts like pink or black.

Packaging these in cute jars make beautiful hostess gifts!

salt

Using these salts is the same as applying regular salt to your dish but the difference is in the aroma and flavor this little trick adds!

Here are a few ideas on how to make your own flavor intense salt:

Rosemary Salt

Ideal for chicken, turkey and pork Rosemary is a natural compliment.

To a 4 ounce jar of salt, add 2 drops Rosemary and stir until well blended. Store in a airtight container until needed.

Lemon-Rosemary Salt

Adding Lemon essential oil to salt either individually or with Rosemary is a wonderful flavor intensifier for fish, chicken, turkey or pork. The lemon adds a great zesty flavor that pairs well with rosemary’s earthy flavor.

To a 4 ounce jar of salt, add 2 drops Rosemary and 2 drops Lemon. Stir until well blended. Store in an airtight container until needed.

Basil-Oregano Salt

1 drop Oregano, 1 drop Basil mixed well with 4 ounces of salt. This is perfect for seasoning sauces, dips and savory baked goods.

Lavender Salt

Lavender salt is divine yet gentle. This salt works very well with fish.

To a 4 ounce jar of salt, add 2 drops lavender. Stir until well blended. Store in an airtight container until needed.

This is particularly pretty with pink salt.

Additionally, this can be added to sugar and used as a baking ingredient such as cookies, cupcakes and breads.

Black Pepper Salt

Black Pepper essential oil can be used in lieu of ground black pepper. Mixing it in your salt is ideal for grilling and ease in food preparation.

This salt is ideal for beef including burger and steaks as well as any dish where you would normally add salt and pepper!

To a 4 ounce jar of salt, add 2 drops black pepper essential oil. Stir until well blended. Store in an airtight container until needed.

Lime Salt & Sugar

This is a fun way to add zest to your beverage glasses! Lime, lemon, or any citrus flavor of your choosing can be added to sugar or salt for an extra flavor to your glass rims.

To either sugar or salt, approximately 4 ounces, add 2 drops of Lime (or your preferred flavor).  Stir until well blended. Store in an airtight container until needed.
